I surprised the kids with a new activity today—face paint! They were excited to get their faces painted as Daniel Tiger and Katerina Cat.

Honestly, I didn’t know how I’d do… I hadn’t painted a face since drawing some whiskers on my own with one of those crayon things when I was a kid so I could be a black cat for Halloween. But these paints were great and I’m happy how it turned out.

It took some time to paint each face, so Alistair made a paper plate Katerina mask for Lydia while he waited for his turn.

Afterwards, we tried to go on our daily walk, but Lydia took a tumble down the stairs before I could even finish locking the door. She was okay after a moment with the boo-boo bunny. So we tried again. We got down to the trail and she took off running down the hill—and fell again. This time her knees got good and scraped. So we went back inside for some more first aid treatment and decided to just go meet daddy for dinner instead.

Finally, we tried a new (to the kids) treat—Italian ice! They loved it!
