There is so much out there for mermaid themed parties and activities, it was kind of overwhelming. But I didn’t want to buy a bunch of extra stuff, so I ended up using a spare shower curtain as our tablecloth. It was the perfect color for our theme. I also made sure our purple and teal plates were clean and ready for breakfast—and I added a dinglehopper to complete the table. 😉

The kids designed their own mermaid tales, and Lydia and I colored sea shells.

I tried making ”sea foam.” It was kind of a flop and ended up being more of a mess than it was fun. I don’t think I got the ratios right, and nearly used a whole bottle of food coloring trying to get it to look at least blue, if not the sea foam green it was supposed to be. I added green to it, but it just turned a yellowy pea green… I gave up on the second batch and just let it be white. Alistair doesn’t really like messy sensory activities, so he was out pretty quick. But Lydia was up to her elbows in the foam. She ended up getting a bath afterwards—one of FOUR she ended up getting today. 🙄

Alistair made a special cover for our Trix cereal so it would match our theme today. We polished off the rest of the cereal as our late night snack. I think I’m going to have to buy two boxes next time! 😋
