We started the day by helping Mama Dinosaur match up her eggs. (It was supposed to be an activity primarily for Lydia, but I think Alistair ended up doing most of them—he likes to help.)
Then Alistair hid the dinosaur tracks I made around the apartment for Lydia to find.
I tried to get them to watch some dinosaur-themed Spanish videos during lunch (Dino ABCs), but they didn’t really like it. I’ve always wanted to teach them some Spanish, but I’ve been mostly unsuccessful… so I gave up and let them watch Dino Dana instead.
This afternoon, we pretended to be paleontologists. I hid some small dinosaurs in our kinetic sand and had them find them using only small instruments like a lock pick and paint brush. I kept saying “be careful!” pretending like they were super fragile. 😂Lydia preferred a more hands-on approach though. 😄
After it was time for bed and I thought they weren’t going to play with it, they suddenly became very interested in the movement game I copied off of Pinterest. I didn’t have one of those gold spinny clip things to spin an arrow around it, so I just had them role a dice to move their dino around the circle. Next time, I think I’d time them though, like, “you have to do that movement for 30 seconds.” They were just doing the movement once or twice before moving on.
Finally, they wanted to read one of the books, but they had procrastinated their bedtime long enough, so I said they’d have to wait to read it until tomorrow.
