Normally I do these days with found items around the home, but I gotta admit I kinda splurged on this one a bit. I mean, how can you have beach day without sand and salt water taffy?!
First, we searched for hidden sea shells around the living room. One was hidden in the one place nobody looks—the laundry basket! 😆
The taffy didn’t stay unopened for long. We started trying out the various flavors with our breakfast. 😋
The kids and I were excited to get into the kinetic sand. I’d never used it before… It’s kinda like sandy-play-dough. It still makes a mess, but not as much as real sand. I snagged the idea from a friend who got it for her son’s birthday. The kids had fun and it kept them busy for quite a while!
We also made some popsicle crafts and Alistair cut out some fish to play with. He made a pirate video too… pretty sure that will have its own theme day some time next month!
Finally, I got some Italian ice for today, but after all the taffy (and the donuts they got while out with Daddy), I decided we’d save that for another day.
Oh! And we looked up how far some of our favorite beaches were for a little math (how much farther is ______ beach than _______ beach from our home?) We determined Destin was the closest on our list and checked in on a live webcam of the beach. Can’t wait until we can feel real sand between our toes again! 😊
