The kids helped put together the table this time. I repurposed the street from several weeks ago, and Alistair drew Elmo’s house while I made Hooper’s Market.
We read lots of books, played with Elmo and his friends on our street-scape, and made hand print Elmo and Cookie Monster. I also let them play with the little plastic toys in the tub at bath time.
Every now and then I’ll ask if they still want to do these themed days, and they still love them! They look forward to upcoming themes, and we’ve got a waiting list of ideas. Once you start doing them, the ideas just come to you.
The kids were used to having more structure before the quarantine, and didn’t know what to do with so much free time. Now they’re having an easier time coming up with ideas for play. They still miss hanging out with other kids, but they’re really doing a good job of learning to play with each other!
